She received awards there for the research she did that helped the first extended-wear contact lenses get FDA approved. She started her own private practice of optometry in 1979 and was an adjunct faculty member at Pacific for years. She has become well known for her caring and thorough approach in solving patient problems.

She also helps the National Board of Examiners in Optometry write the tests optometrists take prior to practicing optometry. For more than four decades she has been a leader in using the latest technology and research to benefit her patients. She has taken care of patients as young as three months and as old as 108 years. Her optometry practice encompasses a broad range with a major emphasis on treating and preventing eye disease. She educates her patients about everything from glaucoma and preventing macular degeneration to providing long-lasting comfort for dry eyes and optimizing contact lenses for long-term success.
